Robert Austin was listed in the book, "Immigrants to Americas before 17 50." This was an Alphabetical List of Immigrants to the colonies, befor e 1750, compiled from official and other records. This book was taken/e dited from the Magazine of American Genelogy that was published between 1 929-1932. The magazine publication was suspended in 1932 and was not co mpleted.

The book (taken from the magazine's publications) was compiled and edi ted by Frederick A. Virkus and published in 1965. These notes show the p ublic and private records of Robert Austin and his 4 sons.

Robert Austin (b. Eng. about 1634, d. before 1687), came from England a nd settled at Kings Town, R.I.: September 15, 1661, was on a list of 65 p ersons, (residents of Newport, Portsmouth, and Kingstown R.I. mostly), w ho were to have lots at the new settlements of Misquamicut (now Westerl y R.I.). He received Lot number 12, but never settled there. His name i s not on the tax list of Sept 6, 1687. (1) Jeremiah (his son) (b. about 1 665, d. Exeter, R.I. 1754) lived in that part of Kings Town afterward s et off to Exeter: taxed under Gov. Andros levy, Sept 6 1687; he was gra nted earmarks for sheep about 1720. Jeremiah's will dated, March 6, 17 52, approved in 1754; m. about 1693, Elizabeth, (died 1754), he had 7 s ons and 1 daughter, (2) Edward, (d. after 1734) settled in Kings Town ; He was taxed under Gov. Andros levy, Sept. 6 1687; married and had 2 s ons (3) Joseph, d. about 1743), settled in Kings Town: He was a blacksm ith (granted ear-mark for sheep in 1706). He was one of 12 purchasers o f "Devils Foot" (1824 acres), May 27, 1709: He was a surveyor of highwa ys, in 1722. m Mary, (d. after 1752); they had 3 sons, (4) John (d. Ap ril 17, 1752), settled at Kings Town; one of 11 purchasers of "Swampton " (1608 acres). 1709: was of the North Kings Town, 1728, he was Freeman o f East Greenwich in 1737; was of West Greenwich in a deed to son John, M ay 30, 1748; m. Mary and had 2 sons, 1 daughter.
