Eldest son of Philip. Lord of Braiose, Lord of Bramber and Gower, Lo rd of Over Gwent (Gwentland), jure uxoris Lord of Brecon (Brecknock) and A bergavenney, Sheriff of Hereford 1173-75. Shortly after 1130 he inherit ed his father's territories and, about 1155, held one-half the Honor of Ba rnstable, his lands forming a 'solid-block in the Middle March.'
